I'm back again, to update you on all the Argonaut happenings! We were at a show in Akron, at Tadmor hall. We met some cool people there and I gave Manny his WonderWoman and Adventure Comics #300 Dimensions. Happy Birthday Manny! We also are recovering from the big Pittsburgh Toy Show. Dan did some awesome SuperFreeks of Lando (Billy Dee Williams) and …. I’m going to get this wrong… a Kanamit (Richard Kiel???). You know, “aaahhh… it’s a cookbook!” Twilight Zone? Anyone? Well, go to Google and type in “to serve man” -- it’ll pop up. Dan has this thing about promoting his own art (silly man!) so I went and got the autographs. Billy Dee seemed very tired and slightly catatonic, as I’m sure we all would after signing our name a zillion times and meeting a bunch of people. Richard Kiel (SORRY if I’m spelling that wrong!!) was very very nice! He wrote “Great Art” on the picture! If you want to see these, go to the soon to be created, if not already, part of this website called “Pre Order”. Dan also did a Fantoon of him and me and Vanessa Branch. She was very nice too! I couldn’t tell if she liked the picture, or was a little afraid of it. If you don’t know what a Fantoon is, we should have pictures up here somewhere. I’ll make sure Dan puts them up somewhere. It all started because I don’t really like me in real pictures, I like the cartoon me much better! We have a HUGE one of our wedding, with our pets in wedding garb hanging in our living room. Anyway, when Dan and I went to the Vulkon show months ago, he did a pencil sketch of him, me, the Doctor, Neelix and Tom Paris from Voyager. I think those pictures are under “convention photos.” For this show, Dan did one of him chewing gum (Vanessa Branch is the Orbit gum girl… you know, “Fabulous!”) and me clapping (goofy inside joke thing). Vanessa Branch was in her Voyager uniform, holding up the gum and in the background was the plane crash from LOST and a pirate ship sailing by. In case you don’t get it, she was in Voyager, LOST and Pirates of the Caribbean. See? Anyway, it was awesome and I want him to do one of the two of us and Janet, Larry, and Terry from Three’s Company because….. drumroll… we will be at the NJ super mega show!!!!!!!!! Wooo hoooo!!! By the way, does anyone else wach TV land and if so, does anyone else find the Friday Movie commercials with the fake foreign people dressed in 70’s (??) garb annoying yet strangely compelling? Ok, compelling is the wrong word, but I find myself singing “pass it to me” and “I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you” around the house. Maybe it’s just me. So for New Jersey… we will have the usual cards and prints and buttons and an email contest (you can enter even if you are already on the mailing list!). We will also have some new things, like a SuperFreeks Series 2 checklist, smaller single-character Dimensions (Captain America is sitting behind me on the desk, waiting to be assembled!), a How-to DVD from RAK, creator of the SuperFreeks and many other things we haven’t finished yet! I’m hoping to debut the SuperFreeks Collector’s Box, all hand-made, hand-painted. And as always, we aim to please so if you have product suggestions, let us know! |
